New Companion, Same Area (mom questions answered)

Sistah Uata (new companion) and Sistah Beck in Manurewa

Hello everyone this has been a crazy week, but I am doing so good!

I have a new companion, Sister Uata, and I am in the same area! Sister Uata is from California and she is Tongan, but she is in the Samoan program (which means she was originally assigned to labor in NZ to the folks who speak Samoan) and now she is serving in a Tongan ward. Its crazy but God works in mysterious ways. This area is amazing and we have seen so many miracles this week. The work here in Manurewa is INSANE. Guys I know I always say this, but there is so much to do. We have 2 baptisms this week and we had 8 people at church on Sunday! It was crazy. We have never had more than like 4 people before. There is always so much to do. It can be overwhelming at times, but I am so grateful.

The reason this area is doing so well is because of the members . They help us so much and are always out fellowshiping and visiting people. I love everyone here so much and everyday is something different. Always an adventure here in Manurewa haha.

I love you all so much and I miss you tons. Email me because I love hearing from you all. Remember to help the missionaries in your area and pray for opportunities to share the gospel. This gospel can bring so much peace and comfort and everyone deserves to have that love in their life! Have a good week!
Ofa lahi atu!

MOM QUESTIONS:

Questions of Week....
1. WHAT EXACTLY HAVE YOU COOKED AND WHAT RECIPES DO YOU WANT ME TO SEND?
Lets see.....uh...nothing......ummmm...cookies..... we make panini!!! We eat (A LOT) every night with our members....they are the best!

2. WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE QUALITY ABOUT SISTER SAPOI?
She is very determined and strong.... she has had a lot of struggles in her life and she is really working hard to make a better life for herself and her future family.

3. WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE MEMORIES IN MANUREWA?
The members are the BEST..... they make it worth serving....they treat us SO GOOD.... the district was the bomb and we got really close and now we have a new crew /squad to get to know.  Also, being around members and other missionaries there are just so many memories of fun and goodness.  Also, having the other sisters pierce my ears was quite epic.

4. WHAT ARE YOU CONFIDENT IN?
I honestly feel like I'm good with talking with people.  That doesn't stress me out.  I like it.

5. WHAT DO YOU STRUGGLE WITH?
DOGS!!... they scare me and I've heard of a lot of  missionaries getting bit.  I struggle with staying calm on the inside... I worry that I"m not doing everything that I can..... so I'm LEARNING TO CHILL.  Which is why it was good to be with Sister Sapoi as she was chill and knew the district well and now I"m the one who has been in this area longer.  So I'm a little nervous but I'm learning to relax and pray and rely on the spirit.

6. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH ON YOUR MISSION?
I want to say that I gave it everything that I had and that I had FUN doing it. I want to enjoy the time here because it will be over so fast.  I don't want to have hard feelings toward anyone.  I want to learn to love everyone.  When people refer to Sister Beck,  I want the feeling others have to be a positive experience.  A mission is also helping me figure out who I am and how I can share what I know with others. I also want to make life long friends with the members and other missionaries.

7. WHAT IS THE STRANGEST THING YOU HAVE EATEN.... OR NOT EATEN?
I don't know exactly what I"m eating all the time.........but they keep feeding me.... taro leaves around lamb or some kind of meat..... kumaro (spelling?) They put fruit in all their ice cream (like mandarin oranges on chocolate ice cream).   The strangest thing I've eaten ....well...I can't describe it ...it was like fishy but sweet and chewy. (hummmmmm)  We have an investigator that made use fettucini alfredo and wraps with chicken....and triffle(angel food cake with custard and whip cream and peaches and strawberries.  EAT MORE is what the people tell us!!  We have food to take home ...a lot

8. HOW IS IT REALLY DRIVING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD?
It's not bad.  you get used to it.  I want to drive more and I enjoy it.  My current companion is the designated driver so I direct and that makes me car sick.  So I would take driving over being a passenger any day.

9. DESCRIBE YOUR TYPICAL DAY
Get up at 6:30
6:45 to 7:15 work out.....shower get ready for day.
Plan day from 830 to 9.
9 to 10 personal study and then we go out and follow our plan... (go to appts...visit people.....etc)
Any time throughout the day we do companion study, language study and other study (we usually do it at night)
9 pm  is when we have to be back to our flat unless we have an appt then is 9:30
In bed by 10:30
and there ya go!

10.  HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHAT YOU WILL DO ON P (PREPARATION) DAY?
We generally shop, clean, do laundry and we just talk as a companionship and communicate with the Elders on Sunday night if we want to do an activity together.
